The Lockton Transaction Liability (TL) Group is a best-in-class insurance brokerage team that acts as a liaison between carrier partners (i.e. companies that sell TL insurance policies) and clients (i.e. companies or private equity firms that need TL insurance policies in connection with a mergers and acquisitions).  We handle such policy placements for all Lockton clients in North America.  Our US team is based in New York City and comprised of approximately 50 individuals.  Lockton TL is looking for an intern to support the team in connection with the placement of such insurance policies.

Lockton TL will offer a full-time internship position in the New York office from June 2nd - July 25th, 2025. Interns will be exposed to multiple facets of the TL insurance industry, including deal work and insurer relations. The internship program will give candidates a thorough induction to our business and culture. We are seeking individuals entering their junior or senior year who (i) are interested in building a career in a fast-paced, relationship-driven industry, (ii) demonstrate an eagerness to learn, and (iii) will thrive in our culture of teamwork, diversity, inclusion and superior work product.

Responsibilities:
Assist junior brokers with deal tasks spanning the life of a deal.
Be accountable to junior brokers to provide excellent and timely services to clients.
Complete ad-hoc business development projects.
Conduct and analyze benchmarking data and market trends.

Eager to learn with a growth mindset – hardly anyone comes out of college knowing about TL insurance, so we’ll teach you about these niche insurance products and the broader M&A market if you’re eager to learn and grow.
Collaborative and team-oriented – our ability to work collaboratively on deals is critical in offering timely and best-in-class service to our clients.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment sometimes independently with minimal supervision – deal volume ebbs and flows.  Responding to clients quickly is paramount in the M&A world. During our busy times, the ability to stay organized, prioritize and muti-task is important.
A good communicator, both verbally and in writing – telling a compelling story and conveying your ideas clearly are what insurance broking is all about.
Able to think creatively and demonstrate problem-solving skills – challenges inevitably arise in the M&A world. Doing the best we can for our clients requires resourcefulness, innovation, and determination.
Trusted with detailed tasks – details matter, so having a process for reviewing your work to find errors and noticing when something doesn’t look are important.
Interested in building relationships – insurance is a relationship-driven industry and interacting with clients, insurers and colleagues in social settings is part of the job.
Skilled in Microsoft Office suite is a plus.
