Catastrophe Modeler qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in mathematics, statistics, or related quantitative field, with Atmospheric or Earth Sciences as background a plus.
  • A minimum of two years’ relevant professional experience in an analytical role with in-depth knowledge of reinsurance concepts
  • Expert knowledge and experience in problem solving in SQL is required, in MS Excel is desired; ability to use R or Python a plus
  • A minimum of 3 years previous CAT Modeling experience within the reinsurance sector required for RMS, desired for AIR
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work on and complete complex projects
  • Highly developed conceptual, analytical and innovative problem-solving skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with other departments
  • Ability to excel in a detail-oriented, deadline-driven environment

 

  • Ability to prioritize tasks while maintaining constant level of high quality
  • Understands industry trends and governmental regulations
  • Ability to complete continuing education requirements as needed
  • Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures, proactively protecting confidentiality of client and company information
  • Legally able to work in the United States
