Central Commissions Analyst

The Lockton Companies Central Commissions Analyst is primarily responsible for recording commission payment detail in the agency management system, as well as, recording cash entries to the general ledger.   Direct and frequent interaction with Lockton sales associates and client specialists, as well as, insurance carriers supports timely and accurate recording of revenue.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Transact commission client detail within an automated cash application system and process all exceptions efficiently and effectively.


  • Responsible for ensuring all cash is recorded to the general ledger and obtaining approval from the Central Commissions Supervisor for any exceptions.


  • Responsible for all month-end closing activities including production and cash balancing, as well as, suspense reconciliation.


  • Review and request client master data set-up and maintenance with internal business partners to ensure commission detail is recorded timely.


  • Review documentation enclosed with payments and deliver insurance documents to appropriate associates.


  • Work with appropriate carrier contacts to ensure commission payment remittance access is accurately and timely available to record revenue when received.


  • Reconcile expected commission amounts versus received amounts when requested.


  • Provide best in class customer service to internal and external business partners and customers.


  • Responsible for record retention - archive.



  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; or equivalent education and experience.


  • General understanding of accounting concepts and procedures.


  • 2-3 years of experience in handling complex accounts receivable duties in an accounting environment.


  • Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize heavy individual workload to meet time sensitive deadlines.


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated professional with personal presence to interface with corporate decision makers.


  • Ability to compile, analyze and interpret financial information and data to facilitate decision making.


  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as, part of a team with minimal supervision.


  • Ability to grasp new topics and concepts quickly and transfer knowledge to others on the team when appropriate.


  • Ability to prioritize heavy, time sensitive workloads while meeting aggressive deadlines


  • Results driven and takes initiative.


  • Proficient in MS Excel required; MS Word experience a plus.


  • BenefitPoint experience preferred.


  • PeopleSoft experience preferred.
