Lockton is currently seeking a skilled insurance professional who is interested in leveraging their knowledge and experience in an advisory role.  The Commercial Insurance Contract Advisor is responsible for reviewing, interpreting, and analyzing commercial insurance policies.  Keys to success in this role include the ability to build and maintain relationships as well as the ability to educate our Client’s on potential risks.

Primary responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Review, interpret, and analyze Client’s commercial contractual requirements regarding property and casualty insurance
  • Compare commercial contractual requirements regarding property and casualty insurance with commercial insurance policies to determine and advise client’s on whether the coverage and limits of liability meet the commercial contractual requirements
  • Advise clients and provide recommendations and guidance, as necessary and appropriate, exercising independent professional judgment
  • Provide guidance to internal Lockton personnel, including the certificates team on certificates of insurance issued in connection with commercial contractual requirements
  • Remain current by understanding and following applicable compliance and professional standards
  • Actively seek out opportunities to create and improve standard processes
  • Additional responsibilities as requested by leadership

 

The most qualified candidate will possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree (legal experience a plus)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of commercial insurance experience (emphasis on insurance coverage analysis, underwriting, risk management, client management, insurance broking, contract review and/or drafting, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and PDF editing software
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of Associates and Clients
  • Excellent organization skills – ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Skilled at navigating complex and difficult scenarios and providing appropriate guidance with discretion and good judgment
  • A self-starter with the ability to work autonomously with quick deadlines
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing (emphasis on communicating complex insurance concepts)
  • Familiarity with common insurance and legal terminology and concepts
  • Experience drafting, revising, interpreting, or reviewing contracts
  • Legally able to work in the United States
