Summary:

Lockton Affinity is looking for a Director of Finance to join our team located in Overland Park, Kansas.  This key position will be responsible for developing the financial policies for the business.  Provides strategic direction of all financial functions and ensures accurate financial data to protect the assets of the company.

Essential Dutie and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for building and leading the accounting team.
  • Ensures proper financial controls are in place.
  • Ensures financial processes and procedures support the overall business strategy while conforming with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ultimate responsibility for budget preparation, financial reporting, and all other related budgetary activity.
  • Provides strategic leadership to introduce new services and improve existing services such as client billing and collection processes.
  • Designs innovative, analytical and management reporting tools to support decision making in the business.
  • Provides technical financial leadership to analyze potential acquisitions, investments, new initiatives and other ad hoc data requests.
  • Compiles data, analyzes and provides recommendations regarding long-range financial planning. Provides internal benchmark analysis, KPI’s and trend analysis of business performance.
  • Performs what-if analysis as well as analyzes the financial impact of changes in the business.
  • Analyzes financial information and reports to provide accurate timely financial recommendations for decision-making purposes.
  • Interprets operating results as they affect the financial aspects of the business.
  • Develops and maintains relationships across all functional areas and interacts with all levels of leadership.
  • Communicates in a positive manner to contribute to a cohesive, pleasant work environment.
  • Designates individual responsibility and establishes scope of authority within the department for the accomplishment of objectives.
  • Conducts independent audits to review the effectiveness of controls, financial records, duplication of effort and compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Prepares and performs timely performance evaluations for associates and complies with the performance improvement process.
  • Protects the confidentiality of all information learned by performing the duties of the position; develops and implements methods and communication to reinforce the need for confidentiality throughout the business.
  • Makes positive contribution to customer satisfaction and constantly strives to improve service to the customer.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Explains significant changes in procedures or scope of business to auditors.
  • Ultimate responsibility for the preparation of all financial report for publication.
  • Makes formal presentations to corporate decision makers, alone or with others.
  • Makes formal presentations to business as appropriate.
  • Leads department meetings to discuss current and future workloads, department procedures, and other issues and information.
  • Ensures staff training manuals and resources are kept up to date and followed.
  • Attends staff meetings, educational workshops, and social functions as appropriate as appropriate.
  • Operates alphanumeric keyboard to enter data into and retrieve data from systems, and verifies that keyed data is accurate, complete and conforms to established standards.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for maintaining accounting procedures and workflows assigned to ensure adherence to procedures.
  • Potential oversight of human resource and information technology resources.
     

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field, or equivalent education or experience.
  • Ten or more years of experience in full ledger accounting management, including multi-company budget preparation and management experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of all accounting and tax related legislation, regulations, and reporting procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of all accounting functional areas.
  • Diverse business acumen encompassing overall theoretical and practical business concepts, operations, and procedures.
  • Strong value of service to others with ability to lead others at a personal level utilizing participative decision making.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to understand, communicate with, find solutions for, deserve respect from, and motivate others.
  • Proficient with Microsoft products to include Word, Excel and Outlook.
