This position is part of the Lockton Meetings and Events team, which is responsible for managing major internal and external conference for Lockton, the world’s largest privately held insurance broker.

The Event Manager will oversee full-cycle meeting management including: identifying goals and objectives, program strategy and design, site/vendor selection, development and coordination of meeting logistics, event design, technology, budget management, communications, on-site event management and final reconciliation. The role requires extensive travel.

This position reports to the Director of Meetings and Events.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for coordinating major internal and external conferences
  • Advise and consult with senior leaders on objectives, requirements and logistics.
  • Develop and participate in strategic planning process to ensure event improvement, creative solutions and quality customer service.
  • Research and select vendors; negotiate and contract with hotels, vendors and/or contractors to leverage Lockton’s buying power.
  • Develop and manage budgets and support allocation process.
  • Act as key contact with internal clients, venues, contractors, and vendors.
  • Create and maintain event timelines and schedules.
  • Develop and support registration and mobile app process including event build, reporting, attendee correspondence and troubleshooting.
  • Advise and train Associates on virtual event platforms and best practices.
  • Develop and support virtual event process including event build, registration, communications and post-event analytics.
  • Develop event communications and coordinate design and print needs.
  • Support team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of five years of event planning experience with working knowledge of the meeting/events management industry.
  • Excellent planning, scheduling, negotiating, organizational and writing skills with experience in marketing communications and sales support.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build consensus, share best practices, and communicate point of view effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate project goals and objectives, project status and deliverables with team members and management, including senior executives.
  • Experience in leading and managing groups of people in a project environment and delivering results on schedule.
  • Adaptable, self-motivated, flexible team player.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Advanced user of WebEx meetings or similar platform and comfortable with learning new technology quickly.
  • Highly organized; works well under pressure.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) or working toward designation.
  • Cvent or similar registration system experience preferred.
  • WebEx or similar virtual meeting platform experience preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for meetings as needed (projected travel: 30%+)
